FAQS

Unfortunately no. Once a mark or defect has penetrated through your clear coat (see above diagram) the only way to repair that panel is with a respray. A good way to help avoid this scenario is to apply a ceramic coating such as Q2 Flash. This is because it is highly chemical resistant and allows a lot more time to safely remove contaminants like bat poo without damage to your paint. Application of a ceramic coating is a fraction of the cost of a multiple panel respray and protects the entire car so is well worth it. Feel free to check out our range of Ceramic Coatings here on our Paint Protection packages page.

I wouldn’t recommend you having a go at your paint with a sander. The sanding paper I use is incredibly fine so takes only the smallest amount off to smooth out the paintwork. The compounds we use are of the highest quality and only ever improve your vehicles finish. We also highly recommend protecting your paintwork once it has been corrected as there are only so many times the paint can be buffed.

We use a paint gauge to determine the thickness of the paint when quoting. If the paint is too thin we will advise you of this.

Generally most paint correction jobs will take 6-12 hours. The bigger the car and more steps involved will affect the duration of package.

The truth is the most damage I see to customer cars is from dirt filled sponges and a total lack of protection on their paint ie wax, sealant or coating. When you wash your car, particular with a sponge, the dirt on the car gets wedged between your cars paint and the sponge and eventually can be like cleaning your car with bark! The best way to reduce this is by using a soft microfibre or lambs wool wash mitt and regularly flushing the dirt from your mitt before applying more car wash to your car.

This is know as clear coat failure and can only be fixed with a respray. It is caused by the UV rays from the sun. The best way to protect against this is keeping your car under shelter where possible followed by a ceramic coating. Regular waxing will also prevent this from happening.
