What is car detailing? Is dealership paint protection any good? We get lots of questions in this industry and sometimes people have heard a lot of “interesting” versions of the truth. We aim to answer your car detailing FAQs honestly, without bias. If your question isn’t answered here, please feel free to contact us for a chat.
Car (or auto) detailing is the act of performing a thorough cleaning, restoration and finishing of a motor vehicle, to produce a show-quality cleanliness and polish. Detailing can be performed on a vehicle’s exterior and/ or interior.
There are a couple of ways you can keep your car in great condition:
1. Washing your car regularly with a high quality wash mitt and shampoo will go a long way.
2. Add some kind of UV protection to your paint on a regular basis.
3. Keeping your wheels clean and removing bugs when you wash your car.
However, if all this seems too much then our Mini Detail performed every 3-6 months will provide a great maintenance plan and keep your car clean and protected.
Alternatively, a Surface Protection Package can really help with long term protection and reduce the maintenance needed to keep your car looking its best!
Short answer: Yes.
Generally speaking, the dealerships don’t use brands known to the detailing industry. That being said, it doesn’t mean that they won’t perform. However, a dealership’s quality control and preparation of your car is often lacking. To apply a ceramic coating the surface must first be thoroughly cleaned and decontaminated. On average, a dealership may spend only 1-2 hours applying a coating/ paint protection product to your car. By comparison, we spend on average 6-8 hours preparing and applying a coating to your car. For our full protection package we spend 10+ hours preparing and protecting every part of your car. But this doesn’t equate to the dealership being more efficient; they are just cutting corners and rushing. The number of steps involved in properly preparing and coating a vehicle simply cannot be done in 1-2 hours.
In a nutshell, we have better procedures, better products and are looking to provide you with the best outcome.
Two reasons:
1. We are a business that delivers a more thorough clean and are not interested in volume over quality. Our pricing structure allows for higher quality products and procedures, plus more time spent on your vehicle.
2. We offer a mobile detailing service so you can have your car professionally detailed at your home or workplace.
This depends on the package or service purchased. The bigger the package, the more time allocated to complete the job.
